Artist: Fernando D. Pinon (about the artist)
Summary: This project is a multi-media investigation into the problems and solutions of global population growth and human survival. Combining bio-mimetic and permacultural strategies, the project offers imaginative approaches to shelter design and construction, food production, distribution, waste disposal, energy creation, and industry. The project is presented in a 4 part series: The "Human Habitat Project," looks into self-sustainable homes, buildings, and smart work-flow layouts. Part two, the "Clean Transport Project," gives ideas for non-engine and positive emission vehicles for personal and commercial transport. Part three, "From Dirt to Diet," presents novel concepts for farming and dining that lower overall energy and resource consumption. Finally, "Tomorrow Today," outlines a fully integrated holistic model for natural work, living, and social systems. The sketches, plans, and essays that are a part of this exhibit give a glimpse at what is possible to make sustainability a reality for today and into tomorrow. Paintings and drawings include practical insights as well as fantastical viewpoints into the new worlds we can make.
